If you thought Khaosan Road in Bangkok was just for hippies, think again. You can meet Thai students and friendly locals for a night of fun in debauchery at Khaosan Road. This is one of Bangkok’s most vibrant nightlife zones and just about anything can happen here. While Khaosan Road has long been popular with shoestring travelers, these days it also boasts of market bars and clubs that attract flash packers and trendy Thai people.
Khaosan Road really comes to life after dark, when the area’s neon signs light up and street side bars blast out music to attract party people as they wander past. There are dozens of bars on the curb that offer strong cocktails for just a few baht, and these are great places to perch at the start of the evening while watching the surrounding scene unfold.
Gulliver’s Traveler’s Tavern
This is one of the oldest establishments on Khaosan Road. This large and fully air conditioned bar offers two floors, a great range of drinks and a Western food menu. Both live music and DJs can be enjoyed here and this is one of the area’s best late night venues where travelers can shake their stuff on the dance floor.
Hippie de Bar
Tucked away at the end of a narrow lane that leads off Khaosan Road, this colorful venue provides a lively atmosphere where backpackers from all over the world can mingle with Thai students while listening to a wide range of different types of music. Special performances are often hosted here featuring both local and expat bands.
Shamrock Irish Pub
You must head to the top floor of this centrally located establishment to get your groove on to the house band that can be found playing every night. The atmosphere here is usually highly charged, which makes Shamrock Irish Pub the perfect place to let off a little steam.
